About Me

Who are you?

My name is Mike Moore. I’m basically a computer geek. I got involved in computer in college where I took some computer programming courses. I just naturally gravitated towards computers. On the first real job that I had, I was naturally curious and I started doing computer support, even though it wasn’t technically my job. I’ve been providing computer support in some form since 1984… over 21 years! I currently provide computer/technology support to individuals, organizations and small businesses.

Why do you call this site “AtomicDwarf.com”? Who is this Atomic Dwarf anyway?

I’ve always been interested in science fiction and fantasy.
When I was in high school, I played a lot of fantasy and science fiction role-playing games, including Dungeons and Dragons, Gamma World and Villains and Vigilantes. In one of the D&D campaigns in which I played, I had a character who was a dwarven fighter. His name was Monad. As did many gamers, I found out, the best characters to play are extensions of your own personality. Like me, Monad was interested in science and science fiction. Even though he was a medeival fantasy character, I often imagined him in science fiction settings.

At some time or another, while imagining him as such, the name Atomic Dwarf came to my mind. I thought that if I ever was able write stories or a comic book about him, I would call it Atomic Dwarf.

Anyway, with the advent of the internet and personal web publishing, I thought that maybe AtomicDwarf would be a good name for a domain name. In 2002, I registered the domain name www.atomicdwarf.com. Until July 2003 I wasn’t quite sure what to do with it. Finally, I’ve decided to use it to serve as a resource to people and showcase some of my skills.

I have modified this site several time. This is its latest incarnation. I’d love to get some feedback from you. In the meantime, I hope you enjoy your stay here.
